About the Website
I Chukwunonso Onwumechili of Ozegu, Enugu Inyi of Inyi town had always had a plan to increase exposure of Inyi town and its culture to the rest of the world and most importantly to the upcoming generation of Inyi children living abroad.

““A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin
and culture is like a tree without roots”

We specifically want this web site to be a resource for Inyi Citizens and organisations to promote their Culture and Events so that the community can benefit from a fully comprehensive source of useful, local information. Our aim is to continue to evolve this web site over the coming months and years ahead.

I developed this project having been presented with information from various prestigious residents Writers of Inyi, who have amassed, the History and various accounts of my beloved town and culture for over 60 years. Most specially grateful and thankful to Prof C A Onwumechili, who’s contribution was invaluable. As well as Arthur Obika who provided enchanting pictures, to bring the web site to live.

Inyi people in diaspora didn't feel there was an easy way to keep up with what's going on in the town. In fact, they would almost describe themselves as having been blissfully unaware, which has only become more apparent as the inyitown.com project has unfurled. Even now, we know that more and more information will come to light and that's exactly what Inyitown.com is all about – providing the community with all the information there is to know about what's going on and when, easily accessible, online 24hrs a day from one 'easy to use', central source.

• An easy point to announce an Event, Feast or Celebration in Inyi, to the rest of the world, aiding the prevention of event clashes in busy seasons.

• To provide Moon Cycle and Market day (Izu Inyi) calendar for event planning and customary practices.

• To provide Historical Records for the Citizens of Inyi, at home and all over the world. Setting a proud foundation for the quest of Inyi development in future.

• To highlight Touristic locations, Events and Food that make Inyi a worthwhile destination for a natural connection to Oji River and Igbo land.

• To provide accurate information and facts about Inyi Town and Villages and to dispel some of the myths surrounding Inyi culture and customs.

• To encourage more people to embrace their Local History and Civic responsibilities. Hence to help, either through their subscriptions or by becoming actively involved, to promote and protect their Inyi town and Custom.
